Notice is hereby given that the Roosevelt Regional Landfill Ash Monofil facility has submitted a permit renewal application to the Washington State Department of Ecology. The draft permit detailing the procedures and protections Roosevelt Regional Landfill will use to continue safely managing the spent ash is now available for public review and comment.
The Roosevelt Regional landfill's ash monofil is dedicated to disposing of only one type of waste – incinerator ash from waste-to-energy facilities. The monofil is specially designed to stop waste material from contaminating ground and surface water. The facility has been operating for more than 20 years, in conformance with Washington Special Incinerator Ash Management Standards WAC 173-306.
The permit renewal application seeks to continue operations in Klickitat County for another five years. The permit application addresses management of special incinerator ash disposal at the ash monofil facility in conformance with Special Incinerator Ash Management Standards, chapter 173-306 Washington Administrative Code.
