Coleman Oil Yakima Bulk Plant Site SEPA Comment Period
Ecology is giving the public an opportunity to comment on a State Environmental Policy Act (SEPA) Determination of Nonsignificance (DNS) for a cleanup action at the Coleman Oil Yakima Bulk Plant Site, located at 1 East 1st Street in Yakima. Ecology proposes a cleanup action for the remediation of contaminated soil and groundwater. The cleanup will involve the injection of a biodegradable chemical into the groundwater, to remove petroleum. Once the pollutants are mobilized, the contaminated groundwater will be removed and treated to encourage microbial growth. This treated mixture is then added back into the groundwater through injection wells. This recirculation system will continue until the petroleum has broken down by the microbes.
For additional questions contact John Mefford, site manager, email: John.Mefford@ecy.wa.gov, phone: 509-731-9613, office: 1250 West Alder Street, Union Gap, WA 98903
