The Western Port Angeles Harbor Damage Assessment and Restoration Plan (DARP) and two related legal settlements called consent decrees are available for public comment. Ecology is receiving comment on the DARP and the US Department of Justice is receiving comment on the consent decrees.
The
DARP is the
damage assessment and restoration plan that explains how the public will be compensated for natural resources lost due to impacts from contamination by hazardous material in Western Port Angeles Harbor. The
Natural Resource Damage Assessment (NRDA) Trustees are made up of the following entities and they developed the DARP.
- Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe
- Jamestown S'Klallam Tribe
- Port Gamble S'Klallam Tribe
- US National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA)
- US Fish and Wildlife Service
- Washington State Department of Ecology
The consent decrees are legal settlements between the NRDA Trustees and the potentially responsible parties. Please note that this comment form is for the purpose of submitting a comment to Ecology about the DARP.
