TransAlta Permit Revision

Ecology proposes to change TransAlta’s permit, called a BART (best available retrofit technology) order. The proposed revision requires TransAlta to:
  • Install and operate a computerized combustion control system to reduce emissions of nitrogen oxides and ammonia.
  • Remove requirements to test coal before using it because testing occurs where air pollution comes out.
  • Limit monitoring of ammonia
